I recently ran into a friend who was looking for resources to help introduce Jesus to her grandchildren.  If you’ve been following me, you know I’m passionate about this. Of course I was more than willing to give her some resources!  But then it occurred to me that I should probably provide a comprehensive listing of what I have been recommending by age category.  Kind of a one-stop-shop of what I have recently been reading and reviewing.  This would save people the time of having to comb through a bunch of blog posts.  And could be a post that you refer to your friends.  This week I’ll give you my picks for ages 0-3.  This is our youngest audience and the very best age to begin talking about Jesus!

My first pick for ages 0-3  is the Baby’s Hug-A-Bible.  This adorable first Bible makes a great baby shower gift!  With it’s soft, snuggly cover this book is a great way to start your child off with 10 favorite Bible stories. It’s written by Sally Lloyd-Jones, the familiar author of The Jesus Storybook Bible.  And it rhymes!   Little kids love rhyming books!  Ages 0-3.

Tiny Bears Bible, Blue

Tiny Bears Bible, Pink

Sally Lloyd-Jones also offers these two equally adorable books, one just for girls, one just for boys.  The Tiny Bears Bible includes 11 familiar Bible stories in rhyme.  Another cuddly and soft board book choice for ages 2-5.

God’s Great Plan Storybook Bible

Obviously as your littles grow, they will need Bibles that grow with them.  After your child outgrows the snuggly books, the next step will be God’s Great Plan Storybook Bible.  This little book introduces your child to many of the familiar Bible stories, while also tracing God’s overarching plan to send a Redeemer.  Age 3 and up.

The Garden The Curtain and the Cross

This Easter themed book is a great resource for young children.  And the benefit of this particular resource is that it can grow with your child.  Start by reading the book to your younger children.  Later on you’ll add the coloring book, then incorporate the Easter calendar and family devotions as your child enters elementary school. There is even a curriculum you can use with your children that is designed to grow with your child.   The 6-week curriculum has suggestions for ages 3-5 and 6-12.   This is the kind of resource bundle that can become a family tradition all while building a firm foundation of faith.  Each part is sold separately.  Age 3 and up.

I’ll be adding to my picks for ages 0-3 as I review more resources for the littlest of children.  What a wonderful opportunity parents and grandparents have to introduce faith to children at such a young age.  The foundation you build now will help your child grow up to stand strong in the Lord.  Many of these resources will be family heirlooms and some will build traditions that will span multiple generations.  Start early!  Next week I’ll share resources for ages 4-8.

I have more ideas!
